Lively Gateway to Western Algarve
The 2nd-largest city in the Portugal region of Algarve after Faro, Portimão is best known for its beach resorts, sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and ochre cliffs. It offers a variety of shopping malls, restaurants, discos and bars. Don’t miss the fresh grilled sardines, a typical local dish.

Portimao and surrounding area full of interesting places to...
Portimao and surrounding area full of interesting places to visit, boat trip to Silves very good. Did trains to Lagos and Lisbon which where good. Night time Portimao was very quiet, Pria Da Rocha is the place to go, good number of restaurants and bars to choose from, some with bands on.AAnonymous - 8.0Scored 8.0
The location for the race circuit was perfect.
The location for the race circuit was perfect. Nice neighborhood and fairly quiet. Be careful of stray dogs or dogs in other properties if walking around. Security of the gates is good, however the windows (most) don't lock. The kitchen utensils are basic and the kitchen itself. The shower heads are loose and hard to control. Lighting outside wasn't working and bbq was basic. There is a bus stop at the end of the road about 200 mtrs.

The beach was great and there were plenty of shops and restaurants in the area. There is a bus from the beach area to the central square but then you have to walk a short way to the train station. Having a train from the beach to the train station would be excellent.

As a golfer this is the perfect spot.
As a golfer this is the perfect spot. Many many quality options with 20-30 minutes. I still think it's the best location when traveling with a family. The beach is awesome and the food choices are excellent. Great access to sea tours and water taxi to Ferragudo from the marina. There's so much to do. Nice little town to walk around, beautiful promenade along the River Arade. Options of long walks along the beaches. Some places require maintenance. Easy access launderettes for long stays and lots of apartments too.

Close to the beach and to the souvenir shops as well as some really good restaurants. The pool is a good size for how many people were there in October, maybe not as good in peak season. You can get your dog with you at the hotel. The rooms and the shared facilities were super clean. The terrace is small but with a great view of the pool and sea, really relaxing to be there in the evening. The pancake machine was the highlight of the breakfast.DanielaDenmark

I had not mentioned this, in the morning a letter from all the staff and hotel wishing me Happy Birthday had been posted underneath my door. To me this takes service to another level.
