This small, congenial hotel is exactly as its pictures indicate: wonderful views, pretty terraces, elegant art deco bar/restaurant, very comfortable, unusual rooms (I hate showers but mine was set in an imaginatively designed cosy cave), excellent scrambled eggs for breakfast, free coffee available in the bar all day, and an easy walk to the nearest beach and the lively port. But it is the staff who make the place: charming, helpful, and efficient, the whole team manages the perfect balance between doing a thoroughly professional job and making you feel like one of the family.

This is a basic hotel But you get what you pay for. For driving south to Italy it was perfect for me. minutes of the motorway petrol station and supermarket close clean comfy bed. I needed nothing else

Vienne is a wonderful town. Not too big but much to see. Easy walking to the sites. For a small town person, it is easier to cope with than a big city. Interesting Roman sites, cathedral and museums but none overwhelming. Easy access in and out of town so driving is convenient.

All the museums and the Roman archaeological site were...
All the museums and the Roman archaeological site were closed on the second and only full day of our stay. We especially enjoyed the wonderful view over the Rhone and the city from the believers. We had almost no time there at all, but we could see lots that needed exploring. We were a little surprised that in the old town sections that we walked there were heaps of bars but few dedicated restaurants. Maybe we just missed the restaurant section. There certainly weren't; the numbers out eating that we have seen in other French and Italian towns. The river is impressive. The ruined Chateau looks intriguing from down on the flat, but we've climbed to a lot of ruined Chateaux in the past couple of weeks and didn't feel inspired again.

To finish with, we have been upgraded to an apartment as our booking for a double bed room confirmed by Booking.com has not been registered by the Hotel. When we arrived there was no more any double bed room available, hence the upgrade. The breakfast was vey good, but it was not a buffet service as indicated.
