The Glamorous Parisian Riviera
The fashionable Normandy resort of Deauville is famed for its international film festival that attracts worldwide celebrities. The most famous names from the silver screen are immortalised on the entrances to changing rooms lining the wooden, beachfront boardwalk – the Promenade des Planches.
The beach itself is a long stretch of golden sand overlooked by exclusive residences, luxury hotels and the chic casino which is most spectacular at night. As you would expect of such a resort, Deauville also has a golf course, marina housing fancy yachts, and a racecourse. Some of France’s largest horse training facilities are here, and the surrounding area is full of thoroughbred studs.
One of these was once owned by the Strassburger family who lived in one of Deauville’s most beautiful houses – the Villa Strassburger. Its half-timbered elements and multi-angled roof are typical of the town’s architecture. Other similar examples include boutique shops and the Hotel Normandy, a historic property now owned by the Barrière group who also run the elegant Hotel Royal overlooking a seafront park.
In addition to these 5-star hotels, Booking.com offers holiday homes near Deauville Airport, and cheap apartments by the train station which also serves the Parisian Riviera town of Trouville across the River Touques.

I have stayed in Deauville before - this time it was just a stopover on my way to LeHavre. Deauville is very attractive with a massive beach, good shops and beautiful architecture. Best: Our numerous trips to Trouville across the river. This place has character and the excellent restaurants / coffee shops were great value compared to Deauville. The fish market in Trouville excellent Worst: I would avoid Deauville next trip. Nothing to offer for my interests.

A beautiful, very upmarket seaside resort. If you are going to get run over in Deauville, it will probably be by a Ferrari or an Aston Martin! A great beach with a beautiful boardwalk. Deauville is a vibrant town with a vast choice of great restaurants and shops. The beach is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Trouville is a 15/20minute walk again a vast choice of restaurants, the fish market is great and gets very busy. The horse racing is great in Deauville with two tracks one within walking distance, the other just a cab ride. There is also an equestrian centre which host various levels of competitions. The staff at the hotel very helpful especially Emilie on the reception and Jean-Francois who runs the restaurant.

Please watch the intake of water. There are not alot of places to use the restroom. The beache is nice and fills up quickly. Parking is very tight so if you can walk from a far that would be your best option. Bring your necessities (towel, water, sun screen snacks, sanitizer and toys for the kids).

The building is amazing, huge and full of arts that make you feel this old lady has some stories to tell. Deauville does not have safe places to let puppies run without leach. And the garden was perfect for us and our puppy. It’s a calm and perfect to enjoy the sun. Delphine and her husband are kind and helpful. We are really grateful to have been able to spend our weekend in this wonderful place filled with people who love dogs 🐶ThomasFrance

But the place is looking motels like in american movies, a place next the the roadway with very basic facilities. Well, it’s OK for the money. The room is tiny and the bathroom too. The good thing is that it’s easy to access Deauville&Trouville by car. Next to it there is McDonald’s and many supermarkets, good for backpackers ;P
